With regard to the government regulations issued as a result of Covid-19 pandemic, students staying at MENDELU dormitories have had the following options since 1. April 2020
Option A –nothing has changed for a student
Option B – student asks for a 50% discount
Option C – student withdraws from the contract
Student continues to pay monthly dormitory fee, nothing has changed for him/her. Everything is standard according to the accommodation contract and the Halls of Residence Rules. Student has the opportunity to move around the dormitory if he/she keeps sanitary measures, government regulations and instructions of MENDELU Dormitory Management.
Student who has applied for/applies for a 50% discount on the dormitory fee will be given a discount until the end of the government regulation, but no later than June 30, 2020. Student must not stay in the room until teaching starts and cannot terminate the contract during this period.
For May, the deadline for applications will be 30.4.2020, resp. 31.5. for June. Students who have already applied for a discount for the period from 1.4. to 30.6., may not apply for May or June again.
The discount can be applied in a way that only 50% of the dormitory fee for April will be deducted from the given account, or for other months if the state of emergency is still declared. If he/she pays in cash, 50% of the dormitory fee will be paid. Student can see on the bill the whole amount without a discount and then the item Discount 50% in the negative amount of half the dormitory fee.
If student wants to cancel the discount, it is necessary to send an e-mail to the head of the dormitory again.
Student asks for a discount by written request, he/she sends an e-mail to the relevant head of each dormitory:

According to the recommendation of the Regional Hygiene Station, students should keep the precautionary government regulation prohibiting free movement of people and therefore should not suddenly move between residence and dormitories. If needed to pick up personal belongings, it is always necessary to agree with the head of the dormitory in advance. The same condition applies of prior arrangement with the head of the dormitory if stay in Brno is needed. It is always necessary to observe hygienic instruction and follow instructions of Dormitory Management.
Student decides/ has decided to withdraw from the accommodation contract, not to return to the dormitory this semester. The contract is terminated according to standard conditions, ie 30 days from the receipt of the termination notice.
Student can keep his/her personal belongings in the room for up to 7 days after the emergency state, ie the rooms must be cleaned by the 7. day after the emergency state finishes. Student can hand over the room, bed linen and return the keys during the day when he/she arrives at the dormitory. Student does not lose the right to apply for accommodation for next semester by terminating the contract.
